Holly was 15 and pregnant by a Vista Maria staff member. This episode is how she says the facility covered its tracks.
On More Than Just Luck, Greg Wier sits with Tiffany, Tiffani, and Holly. The question in the title is blunt: why can't the male staff at Vista Maria keep their hands off the residents? The women describe a pattern of abuse by male staff at the Dearborn Heights facility, and a nightmare that had been disguised as care. Survivors also recount a pregnant teen they called Ghetto Barbie, smuggled off campus in a car trunk.

A pregnancy at 15, by a staff member, is not a relationship the facility can file under bad judgment by a girl. The adult had the job, the keys, and the authority. Holly's account, as the episode presents it, includes the cover that followed. Covering tracks is an institutional act. It means other adults decided the problem to be managed was the evidence, not the staff member.
The trunk is the other picture the survivors put on the record. A pregnant teen moved off campus in the trunk of a car is a concealment, not a discharge. Greg Wier does not soften either image. Voices Unmuted is the series, and this hour is one of the ones where several women are in the room at once, comparing what male staff did and what the facility did afterward.
A civil lawsuit filed in Wayne County Circuit Court in April 2026 named six plaintiffs who say they were abused as minors while living at Vista Maria between 2000 and 2025. More than 100 former residents have come forward this year. More Than Just Luck has documented more than 25 stories of physical, psychological, and sexual abuse, unsafe conditions, and negligence at the facility.
Holly was a resident. The father, in her account, was staff. The episode asks the listener to stay on that fact, and on the trouble the building took to hide it.
Hosted by Greg Wier, the author of "More Than Just Luck," a no-nonsense, real-life memoir about ambition, betrayal and triumph, this episode is part of "Voices Unmuted." The series keeps each account at full length because a short clip leaves out the part that matters: what the guest says the place was supposed to be, and what she says it was instead. Holly was 15 and pregnant by a Vista Maria staff member is that account, written out so it can be read on its own.
