Three women on what a licensed facility left behind

vpVBpF36hdg

Tiffani, Tiffany, and Holly break their silence about their time at a state-licensed facility.

On More Than Just Luck, hosted by Greg Wier, the three of them describe a place that was supposed to be help and rehabilitation. What they say they left with was betrayal, and trauma that lasted. The episode is titled Drugged and Plugged. The published description stays with that frame: disturbing events behind closed doors, and women who are done treating those events as private.

Rather than a place of help and rehabilitation, this institution left behind nothing but profound betrayal and lifelong trauma.

They are speaking together, which matters. A single account can be waved off as one girl's word against a building. Three women, on the same episode, describe the same kind of institution and the same result. The facility was licensed by the state. The license is part of the complaint. A license is a claim that someone outside the building was supposed to be watching.

Greg Wier, author of More Than Just Luck, has spent this series sitting with former residents who say the watching never happened, or happened and changed nothing. Tiffani, Tiffany, and Holly put their account in that line. They are not asking the listener to admire their survival as a slogan. They are describing what a licensed place did with girls who had been sent there to get better.

A civil lawsuit filed in Wayne County Circuit Court in April 2026 named six plaintiffs who say they were abused as minors while living at Vista Maria between 2000 and 2025. More than 100 former residents have come forward this year. More Than Just Luck has documented more than 25 stories of physical, psychological, and sexual abuse, unsafe conditions, and negligence at the facility.

The episode does not offer the facility's mission statement as the ending. The ending, in their telling, is the betrayal, and the fact that it did not stay inside the years they lived there.

Hosted by Greg Wier, the author of "More Than Just Luck," a no-nonsense, real-life memoir about ambition, betrayal and triumph, this episode is part of "Voices Unmuted." The series keeps each account at full length because a short clip leaves out the part that matters: what the guest says the place was supposed to be, and what she says it was instead. Three women on what a licensed facility left behind is that account, written out so it can be read on its own.
